Many older homes in Rio Rancho, Bernalillo and Albuquerque were originally fitted with polybutylene pipes. Structures built between the late 1970’s and mid 1990’s likely contain polybutylene. We highly recommend re-piping if you discover this is the case for your home or business. Polybutylene pipes are extremely poor quality, and tend to wear down when they come in contact with minerals and oxidants in water. Polybutylene pipes can become fragile and scale or flake. If left alone, these pipes will deteriorate and the resulting leak can cause serious water damage to your home or business, costing you thousands of dollars!
Even if your home wasn’t originally fitted with polybutylene pipes, if your piping is older, it may be past its prime. Look over the home inspection report from when you bought your home. Depending on the materials your pipes are made of, and how old they are, it may be time to contact us!
